Trsteno is a coastal village, about 20km from Dubrovnik. The arboretum is a real treat where the cool greens of ancient Renaissance gardens meet the deep blue of the Adriatic Sea. It provides a cool shady haven away from the crowds, with lovely views and quiet corners. Set on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic, covering more than 25 hectares it includes a Renaissance villa (Villa Gučetić-Gozze), walking promenade, a chapel, a Baroque fountain and the graceful arches of a stone aqueduct.

The many species of exotic plants collected over six centuries from around the world, including flowering cactuses, eucalyptus, palms, and the giant Asian plane trees, over 500 years old.

The gardens were filmed to represent the coastal gardens of King’s Landing where Lady Tyrell meets with Margaery and Sansa and Tyrian and Varys plan their schemes and deceptions.
